Gauteng Guardian Editor, Ms Naledi Modise

JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – CENTRE for African Journalists (CAJ) News Africa has appointed Ms Naledi Modise as Editor of Gauteng Guardian, its newly-launched weekly publication.

Chief Executive Officer, Mr Savious-Parker Kwinika, confirmed the appointment on Tuesday.

Modise has previously been at Caxton Media.

Meanwhile, Mr Kwinika announced the elevation of long serving company executive, Mr Mthulisi Sibanda, as CAJ News Africa’s substantive Editor.

Technology journalist, Mr Gift Ndolwane, becomes the Africa Online/Technology Editor while Deputy Editor, Mr Tintswalo Baloyi, becomes Executive Editor.

“I’m so excited to announce the appointment of Ms Naledi Modise. She brings with her the wealth of journalistic experience that would propel Gauteng Guardian weekly to great heights,” said Mr Kwinika.

He said the Pan African news brand had grown commendably in the local and international scene.

“Despite the tough global economic conditions prevailing, our specialised journalists remained focused, developed shock absorbers and great resilience under the stewardship of Mr Sibanda,” said Mr Kwinika in Johannesburg.

He said the team had managed to show huge commitment and insurmountable loyalty to the organisation as well as understanding the company’s vision for the African continent.

“I have no doubt the newly appointed team will continuously and successfully embrace the technology, which is our key driver to the business across the entire continent and beyond,” Mr Kwinika said.

He was hopeful the appointments would further enhance the growth of continuously make the difference for CAJ News Africa in the South African media market and the rest of the continent as well as steer expansion to Asia, Europe and Middle East.

CAJ News Africa is based in Johannesburg, South Africa with bureaus across the continent, mainly southern Africa, east Africa and West African regions.

Its latest publication, Gauteng Guardian, provides broad coverage of the province that is the continent’s economic hub.
