JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – SKYWISE, the low-cost airline, announced the appointment of Faizal Motlekar and Tabassum Qadir as Co-Chairperson and President respectively.
Motlekar, described as a leading South African and African entrepreneur, will jointly chair the position with J. Malik, who previously shared the role with Qadir.
“I am bringing to Skywise my vast experience with global perspectives in South African and African investment”, says Faizal Motlekar.
Qadir noted her appointment to the position came at a time when many people in South Africa wanted a female President.
“It’s essential for women to lead in major industries, and airlines play a key role in enhancing the growth of the domestic travel and tourism industry,” noted Qadir.
Officials said Skywise’s vision of becoming a leading aviation industry player was shaping up as indicated by the airline bringing into its fold additional stakeholders to strengthen its position.
Skywise began operations in February.
