MTN invests billions for latest iPhones

mtn iphone 6JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – MTN has invested some R12 billion ahead of the launch of the iPhone 6S and S6 Plus in South Africa.

The gadgets have been launched at a glittering event in Johannesburg.

“MTN is excited to once more provide its customers with the opportunity to own the most advanced iPhone ever made. We have made a substantial investment of R12 billion into our network to ensure that we deliver the services that come with cutting edge devices such as the iPhone 6S,” said Larry Annetts, Chief Marketing Officer: MTN South Africa.

MTN’s head office store in Johannesburg and its flagship shops in Cape Town and Durban were said to be doing brisk trade way past midnight catering to customers who wished to be among the first to acquire this iconic handset.

“This is part of our efforts at offering our customers with a distinct customer experience,” Annetts added.

MTN will be offering the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus on an optional 36 months contract as well.

The iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus are part of the iPhone series and were announced on September 9.

Globally, as of September 28 13 million iPhone 6S and 6S Plus models had been sold, setting a new first-weekend sales record, up from the 10 million iPhone 6 and 6 Plus units sold the previous year.
