Simon Carpenter, Chief customer officer at SAP AfricaJOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – SAP Africa, the software corporation, has reaffirmed its commitment to steer the digitisation of the public services and health sectors in the continent.

The company, an entity of the German multinational software corporation, made the commitment at the Africa Public Services and Healthcare Summit, held in Johannesburg.

Key partners and customers of the company were in attendance at the high-level meeting.

Among the prominent themes addressed include Urban Matters/Future Cities, Healthcare Tax and Revenue Management and Public Safety and Security, among others.

Held at the company’s Woodmead base on Wednesday, the forum was a unique opportunity to hear about real examples of digital public services from SAP’s public services experts from across the globe where some digital public services customer references were successfully implemented.

With a dramatic budget cuts and huge demand from citizens for services in the digital disruption age, the forum was hailed as perfectly timed to provide stakeholders with an opportunity to hear from SAP’s experts who have in-depth experience leveraging technology to drive innovation and efficiencies in the so-called digital public services.

Simon Carpenter, Chief customer officer at SAP Africa, highlighted the importance and relevance of the forum to the continent.

“In 2050, Africa’s population is projected to more than double to 2,5 billion. We thus need to find ways to feed, clothe this population and empower them with digital tools so that they can participate in the digital economy,” he said.

Sal Laher, Vice President of SAP Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Public Services, confirmed the event would be held again next year.
