RADIO 4DURBAN, (CAJ News) – TWO suspects are scheduled to appear at the Pinetown Magistrates’ Court, KwaZulu-Natal for allegedly hacking into police radio frequencies.

The pair was allegedly found in possession of two illegal scanning devices, used to listen into police radio frequencies, following a recent car accident.

It is reported the crash occurred in the Hillcrest area. Within 30 seconds of the crash being transmitted over South African Police Services radio frequency, a tow truck stood off at the scene.

The driver and the passenger were informed not to use any form of communication to contact other vehicles.

The vehicle was searched upon which police reportedly found the scanning devices.

The two suspects aged 30 and 54 were arrested and were charged with contravention of the Electronic Communication Act.

Provincial Commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni, commended the officers for the arrest.

“I applaud the members of the Durban Flying Squad for successfully appending the culprits,” said Ngobeni. – CAJ News
