DownschifJOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – ALL South African roads lead to the First National Bank Stadium in Johannesburg for the Premier Soccer League (PSL) encounter between defending champions Kaizer Chiefs and title favourites Mamelodi Sundowns.

This will be the second meeting between the two powerhouses, who have earlier met in the Telkom Knockout final in Durban, where Sundowns emerged 3-1 winners.

Although a full house is not expected, the momentum ahead of Saturday’s evening clash has picked.

Currently Sundowns are leading the 16-team Absa premiership league table with 26 points from 12 matches played while Amakhosi are fourth with 21 points from the same number of games played.

The Tshwane based soccer outfit boasts prolific Zimbabwean international, Khama Billiart, Bongani Zungu, Hlompho Kekana, Cuthbert Malajila, Anthony Laffor and acrobatic Ugandan goalkeeper Denis Onyango, who are all enjoying form.

On the other hand, Chiefs will be depending on another Zimbabwean international, anchorman Willard Katsande, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Bernard Parker, on-form George Lebese, young Hendrick Ekstein and veteran midfield maestro, Reneilwe Letsholonyane.

Among other Chiefs players likely to turn the tables in their favour comprise gangling Ugandan midfielder Ivan Bukenya, shot stopper Itumeleng Khune and tough tackling defender Erick Mathoho who are returning from injury.

Elsewhere across the country, Ajax Cape Town will resume the league campaign against Bloemfontein Celtic on Friday at the Cape Town Stadium while on the same Saturday, University of Pretoria and Jomo Cosmos will play at Tuks Stadium.

Struggling Soweto giant Orlando Pirates will host Platinum Stars at Orlando Stadium. Free State Stars entertain Golden Arrows at Goble Park while Mpumalanga Black Aces host Polokwane City at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
