JOHANNESBURG – MORE than 56 libraries, eight information and communications technology laboratories and ten classrooms were constructed in 22 countries in Africa and the Middle East during the three-week MTN Yellow Care programme.

More than 140 000 are set to benefit from the projects, which was a result of some 10 450 MTN staff that volunteered.

Held annually between June 1 and 21, Y’ello Care is MTN’s employee volunteer programme which focuses on giving back to communities in the area of education.

Among the major beneficiaries were communities in Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Swaziland and Sudan.

In these countries some schools received prizes in cash and kind.

Chris Maroleng, Executive for Corporate Affairs at MTN Group, congratulated all of the award recipients and every employee who participated in the programme.

“These efforts are humbling and inspiring, and will truly make a sustainable difference across our footprint, change lives and positively impact generations for years to come.”
