JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – SAP has welcomed, Angelique Kerber, until recently the highest-ranked female tennis player, as brand ambassador for the company.
The announcement precedes the renewal of a partnership with the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). The renewal will be formalized on Thursday at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, Germany.
German Kerber (29) and her coach, Torben Beltz, are early adopters of SAP Tennis Analytics to help analyze performance for WTA matches.
She has been a key contributor of feedback regarding the programme for the past couple of years, enabling SAP to implement strategic updates to the application.
“Angie is an incredible tennis player, and she is exactly the kind of partner that we look for both on and off the court,” said Jenni Lewis, SAP Tennis Lead for WTA.
Born in Bremen, Kerber started playing tennis at the age of three.
After her WTA debut in 2003, she rose to prominence in 2011 upon reaching the semifinals of the United States Open. K
She became the World No.1 in August 2016 (until this week), an exciting year that saw her win both the Australian Open and US Open while also making the Wimbledon final.
Kerber has ten WTA titles to her name and will be looking to defend her back-to-back titles at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.
“It feels very good to be a part of the great team from SAP. It’s an honor for me to be an ambassador for this amazing company,” said Kerber of the partnership with SAP.
