JOHANNESBURG – THE spotlight will once again fall on beleaguered former Polokwane City coach, Luc Eymael, when Bloemfontein Celtic visit Limpopo for a relegation decider against bottom-placed Baroka FC this weekend.
The two struggling sides clash at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane in a 15h00 kickoff on Sunday, a week after the Premier Soccer League dispute resolution chamber ordered the coach to return to City.
He has appealed against the decision and maintained returning to the Limpopo side would put his life in danger.
This is in reference to the commotion that ensued the last time Celtic visited the province for a game against City in early April.
A physical squabble characterised players and officials from both sides as Rise and Shine refused the Belgian-born coach access to Celtic change room.
Despite that antagonism, Celtic eventually scraped a narrow win and will look to continue their dominance over Limpopo teams.
Celtic stand-in coach, Lehlohonolo Seema, said his team was too focused on the quest for survival to concern themselves with off-field issues.
“We are aware of the situation that we’re in‚” Seema said of his side’s predicaments.
At the time of publication Celtic were sitting on 13th on 23 points, two more than Baroka.
Celtic come to Limpopo buoyed by their spited performance away to Orlando Pirates although they lost the Nedbank Cup quarterfinal encounter after extra time.
“If we maintain that determination and spirit in our remaining games, the future looks good,” Seema said.
Baroka have also been resurgent with a decent six points recorded from a possible nine in their last three matches.
They have beaten continental competition participants, Supersport United and relegation haunted Free State Stars. – Guardian
