JOHANNESBURG  – ORLANDO Pirates are aiming for a fifth title while Soweto foes Kaizer Chiefs eager to close the gap on their rivals when the sides square up in the off-season Carling Black Label Champion Cup.
The spectacle between South Africa’s most famous soccer sides is scheduled for July 29 at the Mecca of local football, FNB Stadium at 15h30.
The seventh edition of the Carling Black Label Champion Cup launched on Tuesday in Johannesburg with a higher level of innovation in taking the coaching experience to the next level.
For this year’s edition, consumers will be able to engage with the campaign for free on the USSD platform.
Further to this, fans across the country will not only be able to select their starting line-up but will now be able to further entrench their coaching abilities by selecting their preferred formation.
“We have witnessed the magnitude of the Carling Champion Cup over the years and the opportunity it provides for ordinary men to feel like champions,” said Carling Black Label Brand Director, Samori Gambrah.
“Therefore, it was time to expand in honouring the ethos of the brand and holistically rewarding our Champion Coaches for their support throughout the years by placing all elements associated with coaching in their hands.”
Ticket sales for the 2017 showpiece have opened and are available at Computicket in Shoprite/Checkers stores countrywide.
In the history of the campaign, Pirates have lifted the trophy four times. Chiefs have clinched it twice.
