JOHANNESBURG – FIVE 
finalists are vying for the fifth Annual Standard Bank Rising Star Awards, which recognise, celebrate and connect young talented individuals with the capacity to excel in the information and communication technology field.
Hanlie de Bod and KhethaMajozi (Britehouse, a Division of Dimension Data), Samantha Cammarata, Zjaen Coetzee (Telkom) and Refilwe Nkabinde (Business Connexion) are in the running. Winners will be announced in Johannesburg on Thursday next week.Laura Barker, Managing Director of BlackBark Productions, organisers of the Rising Star Programme, said entries were received from across the country identifying a broad range of corporate and public sector talent.
“It is encouraging to see these awards grow year-on-year – it means our goal of recognising and developing talent is real,” Barker said.The awards are for young, talented employees in the 28-40 year age category.
As headline sponsor, Standard Bank is impressed with the calibre of entries.“There is another excellent group of finalists going through to the last round, and the judges are going to have their work cut out for them,” Standard Bank’s Global Head of Resourcing, Amelia Muller said.
Rising Star has successfully recognised over 350 talented young individuals over the past five years in its programme in both South Africa and Kenya.
