SELF control, love, compassion, forgiveness, mercy, selflessness and philanthropy, these are among Jehovah God’s biggest attributes.

These are the qualities that Jehovah God forgive his subjects each time human beings confess their sins.

There are instances nonetheless when He (God) acts by punishing his subjects.

This is because there are some people in life who always believe are untouchable, invincible, indomitable, unconquerable or unbeatable when they go unpunished for their serial and countless wrongdoings.

When such people, especially those in powerful political positions, or relationship become thick headed and believe they will always be pardoned for their recurrent wrongdoing, it reaches a stage where such persons are oblivious of the good or bad things in their lives.

So, it is always important to retaliate or reciprocate in such a manner that makes the culprits to notice other people’s benevolence, goodness, kindness, warmth, patience, tolerance or friendliness.

When such fallacies, misconceptions, delusions, mistakes, false notions, errors and miscalculations keep recurring, Jehovah God hits back in a manner that leaves His subjects feeling disliked and imagining hostility.

Bear in mind, Jehovah God does all these out of love.

Moses, when he literally, broke Jehovah God’s inscribed Ten Commandments, is an apt example of such a great prophet who thought was untouchable even when he was.

When told by God to take the inscribed commandments to the children of Israel, whom Moses found worshipping a golden calf, Moses acted angrily by smashing down Jehovah God’s tablet.

This did not go down well with Jehovah God, who had taken 40 days and 40 nights writing laws on the hard rock.

According to Exodus 31:18, “When the LORD finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the covenant law, the tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God.”

Here we see Moses’ recklessness. He allows his anger overcome him instead of exercising self-control (extreme caution).

Because he did not break a sweat on the inscribing of the stone, he just took it for granted.

The difficulty the Creator went through to inscribe words on a hard rock or stone never crossed his mind. What Jehovah God worked on in 40 days and 40 nights, he just smashed in a split-second.

Sometimes, getting things for free makes people not appreciate good things they are being favoured with.

Usually when human beings receive things on a silver platter, be it money school fees, a cellphone, a house or car, they don’t normally show gratitude or appreciation.

Even in a relationship, when a committed partner shows unconditional love, the one who is enjoying such favours has a tendency of not giving in return.

The recipient does not show reason to acknowledge or feel indebted to the hand that gives.

Jehovah God knew very well that by freely inscribing the stone with rules and donating to Prophet Moses, he would be less appreciative.

Deservedly, Moses was punished for breaking the tablet.

Let that not imply Jehovah God did not love Moses. Punishment was purely a corrective measure to instill self control on the culprit.

Jehovah God wanted to teach Moses to learn to contain his anger.

Indeed, Moses felt angered by children of Israel whom Jehovah God had freed from Pharaoh’s bondage. They had started worshipping an idol, a stupid deity who never delivered them from anything.

That though was no justification for Moses rash reaction or a ticket for Moses to smash a stone that Jehovah God inscribed for him in those lengthy days and nights.

Further into the book of Exodus 32:19, “When Moses approached the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, his anger burned and he threw the tablets out of his hands, breaking them to pieces at the foot of the mountain.”

If we study the Word of God carefully, we see our Creator forcing Moses, this time around going back to the mountain to inscribe his own table so that the culprit knows how it feels to write something on a hard rock yet not being appreciated.

According to Exodus 34:1, The LORD said to Moses, “Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones, and I will write on them the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke.”

As a punishment, Jehovah God orders Moses back up the mountain so that he feels the pain of going up and down carrying heavy stones with His commandments.

On Exodus 34:4 – 6, “So Moses chiseled out two stone tablets like the first ones and went up Mount Sinai early in the morning, as the LORD had commanded him; and he carried the two stone tablets in his hands. Then the LORD came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed his name, the LORD.

“And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.”

So if the great Moses could be punished for irresponsibility, who are we not to be punished.

Well, in this True Gospel, I urge you, especially those in positions of authority, relationships or marriage, to be patient with the other party regardless of their recurrent wrongdoings.

Instead, let us teach those who do not know to appreciate the good things we are doing to them.

Nevertheless, if such people show less appreciation, temporarily hit back but in a loving manner so as to make them aware what they are doing is bad and unacceptable. It’s called tough love.

According to Proverbs 23:13, “Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you punish them with the rod, they will not die,” while the New Living Translation reads: “Don’t fail to discipline your children. They won’t die if you spank them.”

We indeed know that love is patient and kind. We understand love does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud, but we do not accept to be taken advantage of.

We know very well love does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Yes, we were taught love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth, but we must always resist manipulation by the devil.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 confirms these: “4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres.”

In conclusion, I urge you all to resist the devil and his demons, who are always lurking around to wreck your marriage, relationship or partnership.

According to James 4:7, “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you,” while the New Living Translation says: “So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
