JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – AFRICAN companies must embrace digital transformation to remain relevant in a world increasingly revolving around technology.
This is according to experts at the just-concluded VeeamOn Forum Africa 2017 in South Africa, where digital transformation was among the dominant themes.
Veeam Software is a privately held information technology company that develops backup, disaster recovery and virtualization management software.
Claude Schuck, Veeam Regional Manager for Africa, said failure to embrace digital technology would result in such companies being outsmarted, outperformed and eventually pushed out of the market.
The forum held in Johannesburg came on the heels of Veeam solutions being lauded in addressing a possible disruption and reputation knock at the Gatwick Airport.
“Veeam restored the VM quickly. We placed it back in service and kept the airport operations running and available,” said Schuck.
With IT playing a role in almost every airport operation, failure can lead to downtime, data loss, delays and reputational damage.
VeeamON Forum Africa 2017 gathered leading IT experts and visionaries throughout the continent to discuss prevailing trends in the industry.
“Expectations are high as connectivity levels increase in the continent,” said Gregg Petersen, Veeam Regional Vice President for Middle East and Africa.
“With the digital transformation, companies cannot be found wanting,” Petersen added.
