JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – THREE South African youngsters will on Friday embark on a trip of a lifetime to Spain in a quest to carve a career in professional football.
As part of emerging victorious in the 2017 Future Players Gauteng Talent Search, Vuyo Xabanisa from Alexandra, Thabang Rallele from Soshanguve and Thembelihle Fikile Johannesburg will travel to Madrid and Valencia alongside Future Coaches winner, Sakhile Nkomo.
The group will travel as guests of the Spanish LaLiga, who have offices in the Gauteng Province as part of their commitment to aiding youth football development in South Africa.
The players will undertake a tour of Madrid, one of the world’s great capital cities, giving them a window into modern Europe and providing them with an education of sorts off the football pitch.
They will also visit the famed Real Madrid Museum, before heading to the coast and Valencia, where they will visit the academy of six-time LaLiga winners Valencia, and later attend training with another top-flight side, Villarreal.
The group will return to Johannesburg on October 6 after what will be an unforgettable week for Nkomo and the youngsters.
The Future Players initiative is a partnership between the Gauteng Provincial Government and Global Sports International. It has been running since 2009.
