JOHANNESBURG – UNHERALDED LIMPOPO outfit, Baroka FC, will on Tuesday resume their prominent rivalry with the famous Kaizer Chiefs when South Africa’s Absa Premiership resumes on Tuesday after a weekend of cup football.

The two sides will meet at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane in at 19h30 kickoff.

Baroka are somewhat a hoodoo side for South Africa’s most supported football team and have enjoyed a successful spell over Chiefs since the two sides first met in 2011 while the former were still campaigning in the third tier of local football.

They famously knocked Chiefs out of the Nedbank Cup en-route to the semifinal.

Both sides had a bad start to the new season.

Chiefs drew 1-1 against Mamelodi Sundowns in Pretoria while Baroka lost 0-1 to AmaZulu in Durban.

Baroka redeemed themselves with a 2-1 victory over Cape Town City in Polokwane as Chiefs lost 3-1 to Bidvest Wits at FNB Stadium before making amends with a victory over Free State Stars in the MTN 8 this past weekend.

On Wednesday, log leaders Bidvest Wits make the short trip from Braamfontein to Oralndo Stadium for a much-anticipated date with Orlando Pirates.

Wits are enjoying a new lease of life after a horrible 2017/18 that saw them battle relegation.

They have a perfect start to the current season with six points alongside cash-strapped but spirited Bloemfontein Celtic.

Pirates are still licking their wounds after an MTN penalty shootout defeat to Supersport United.

League action resumes on Friday with Chiefs back in action, away to Maritzburg United at Harry Gwala Stadium in KwaZulu Natal.

On Saturday, bottom-placed Polokwane City clash with Baroka in a Limpopo derby at Peter Mokaba in Polokwane.

Cape Town City FC host Golden Arrows at Cape Town Stadium.

Chippa United, second from bottom, will battle Premiership returnees, Black Leopards, at Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Eastern Cape while Wits host
SuperSport at Bidvest Stadium in Johannesburg.

The weekend matches wrap up on Sunday with AmaZulu hosting Free State Stars at King Zwelithini Stadium while high-riding Celtic entertain Pirates at the Free State Stadium.
