MASVINGO – A 25-year-old Zimbabwean man has been admitted to hospital after battling an abnormal erection for three weeks.

Medical intervention as well consultations with prophets and traditional healers have reportedly failed to heal the man, identified as Tatenda Musariyarwa from Duma township, in the Bikita district of the ancient province of Masvingo.

The bizarre condition is said to have arisen after the man was intimate with his wife, who had returned from a brief visit to the capital city Harare.

Musariyarwa has since been admitted to the Silveira Mission Hospital in Bikita for medical attention.

A senior medical officer at the hospital, whose name cannot be disclosed for professional reasons, confirmed the case but declined to comment.

Nonetheless, doctors and nurses at the facility have tried masturbation method on the man to alleviate the problem but to no avail.

In medical terms, the man’s condition is classified as priapism, long-lasting erection that is no longer related to any sexual activity.

It is caused by blood trapped inside the sex organ and can cause permanent erectile dysfunction.
