Harare – ‎ SOUTH African-based businessman, Frank Buyanga, has challenged young entrepreneurs in the continent to devise creative ideas and best harness vast local resources instead of merely seeking funds.

This resonates with his message to the youth to “self-propel and rediscover who they are.”

“In Africa, we are the authors of the world’s destiny but we don’t know it,” Buyanga argued.

He said apart from human capital, the continent had the greatest resources including minerals.

“Africans have the best the world has to offer but the only people who don’t know about this are Africans,” Buyanga said.

Buyanga’s call comes as he signals his intentions to play a significant role in helping young Zimbabweans reach the goals.

The businessman has offered to fund and capitalise the long-awaited Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF), which he says can assist start-ups in the fledgling Southern African country.

He recently was among the judges at the Miss Zimbabwe pageant.

Hajirah Belinda Potts, the 21-year-old Masvingo beauty, won the title ahead of 13 other models.

By winning the event, which was attended by Vice President, Retired General Constantino Chiwenga, and his wife, Mary, Potts automatically won the sole ticket to represent the country at Miss World pageant to be held in China in December.
