KIGALI – MTN Rwanda is celebrating and rewarding its customers as part of commemorations of 20 years operating in the East African country.

It has launched a new campaign titled “Izihirwe”, which articulates MTN Rwanda’s mission of making the lives of its customers’ a whole lot brighter.

MTN will reward customers over the next three months with prizes for staying on the network and using its products and services.

“Twenty years ago, we made history when we became the first telecom in Rwanda. Today, we can celebrate our collective achievements together,” said MTN Rwanda’s Chief Marketing Officer, Richard Acheampong.

“We thank our customers for their unmatched support to our growth and for being with us throughout this journey. We do not take this loyalty for granted. Izihirwe with MTN is to celebrate our customers and to say, ‘Thank you Rwanda’.”

Acheampong said MTN was committed to continue investments in initiatives that positively changed the lives of its customers.

“Customers have a unique chance of transforming their lives and we hope that they will seize the opportunities that this campaign offers. We look forward to a massive celebration and rewarding our customers with these fantastic gifts.”

For three months, customers will be rewarded with free voice calls, free SMS and free data bundles multiple times.

Weekly and monthly gifts such as cash, TV sets, goats, speakers, phones, and restaurant and cinema vouchers are also on offer.

Subscribers can opt to join the campaign for free by dialling *140*6# or sending an SMS with the number 20 to 2018.

MTN Rwanda was the first foreign-based entity of the South African telecommunications company when it started operations in 1998.

It has grown exponentially to enjoy the biggest market share with 3,8 million subscribers at the beginning of this year.

The firm started with less than ten staff, a majority who were expatriates but today boasts 300 permanent staff and over 60 000 agents.
