ORGANISERS of the Telkom Knockout hope to attract more fans into local stadium.

Telkom and the Premier Soccer League have launched the edition of the popular tournament has been launched in Johannesburg.

It has been launched at a time local football has been hit by low attendances at stadia.

Telkom’s Sponsorship Senior Specialist Braam Wessels, said Telkom prided itself in connecting people across all communication platforms.

“Through the Telkom Knockout, we have successfully connected fans to their passion for football. Not only will this year’s Telkom Knockout connect fans to football but, through various activities for fans, they will enjoy unlimited celebration at all matches of the competition,” Wessels said.

PSL Chief Executive, Brand de Villiers said in line with this year’s theme of the Telkom Knockout of igniting rivalry among the supporters of different clubs, they were hoping to see fans coming in numbers to support their clubs.

“Together with our sponsors, Telkom, we would like to make this edition special for the supporters and thank them for their contribution to football.

“In our country, football remains the best vehicle for the corporate world to spread their message and, we would like to thank Telkom for showing faith in investing in domestic football,” said de Villiers.
The Telkom Knockout will kick off on September 30 with the rest of the first round of matches played on the weekend of October 3 and 4.
