JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – CHAMPIONS Kaizer Chiefs and Mpumalanga Black Aces will meet for the second time in a space of three days on Tuesday evening- this time in an Absa Premiership encounter amid a somber mood.
The match is set for the First National Bank Stadium, the same venue where Chiefs knocked the visitors out of the Telkom Knockout with a 2-1 scoreline, to book a semifinal berth.
Amakhosi, as Kaizer Chiefs are popularly known, lie sixth on the league log table with 11 points from seven matches while their Aces are third with 15 points from the same number of games played.
Since veteran coach Muhsin Ertugral took over the reins at Aces, the Nelspruit-based side has vastly transformed and are seen as contenders for the 2015/2016 ABSA Premiership title.
Kickoff is 19h30 at the Soweto venue.
Elsewhere, 9th placed Chippa United host struggling SuperSport United at Nelson Mandela Bay in Port Elizabeth in another match set for Tuesday
night.
On Wednesday, Orlando Pirates, who are nursing from a narrow 1-0 defeat in the hands of Bidvest Wits last weekend will be hosting eighth-positioned Golden Arrows at Orlando Stadium in Soweto.
Fifth-placed Mamelodi Sundowns will entertaining 13th positioned Polokwane City at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Tshwane while in the only league match for Friday will see Chippa and Aces battle out at the Nelson Mandela Bay.
Meanwhile, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) has granted a request by Ajax Cape Town to postpone two of their up-coming Absa Premiership fixtures following the death of their player, Cecil Lolo.
The matches were scheduled for Wednesday and Saturday against Platinum Stars and Golden Arrows at the Moruleng and Cape Town Stadiums respectively.
Defender Lolo passed away in a car crash this past weekend.
In a related development, PSL has postponed the scheduled Absa Premiership fixture between Wits and Jomo Cosmos due to uncertainty around the venue.
The fixture was scheduled for Tuesday at the Bidvest Stadium in Johannesburg.
“The League will communicate a new date in due course,” PSL said.
