PRETORIA- FORMER Mamelodi Sundowns skipper Esrom Nyandoro says the champions need to apply the strong mentality they have displayed so far in the African Champions League if they want to come up with a result in their forthcoming Group B match against five-time champions Zamalek at Cairo International Stadium on Sunday.

The match kicks-off at 7:30pm.

Sundowns and Zamalek have three points each following wins over Enyimba in a three-team group, with Downs topping Group B on goal difference.

Following CAF’s decision, group B was reduced to three teams and Sundowns’ victory over Enyimba now sees them in a good position to make it into the semifinals.

Enyimba’s Dare Ojo stunned the home side with a scorching strike from distance that beat Wayne Sandilands – levelling matters on the hour mark.

Pitso Mosimane’s side beat ES Setif 2-0 in their pool opener, but the result was chalked off after the Algerian side were disqualified from the tournament for crowd trouble.

Retired skipper Nyandoro, a battle hardened player for the Tshwane giants dished out words of encouragement to his former side.

“I think the team’s confidence has is now high taking into consideration that they have won all their matches in the group stage so far. They should apply the same mentality they displayed when beating Algerian side 2-0 away from home.

“It’s not going to be an easy game but if they maintain the tempo they have displayed so far they will win the match. Even a draw will be a good result for them,” urges Nyandoro.

The champions go into this match following a 2-1 victory over Enyimba at the Lucas Moripe Stadium where the Brazilians scored through Leonardo Castro and Khama Billiat.
