JOHANNESBURG, – THE South African Under 23 national team will fly the local flag high at the ninth Fazza International Wheelchair Basketball Tournament taking place in the United Arab Emirates.
The event takes place from May 11-19 at the Al Ahli Club in the capital Dubai.
The junior national team known as amaWheelaBoys has officially been invited to attend the international tournament that aims to continue build relationships between disabled sports federations around the world, to inspire the public through the physically handicapped sportsmen as well as to promote wheelchair basketball.
The South Africans are continental champions, much to the pride of sponsor Sasol.
“We wish the team the best of luck at the 9th Fazza International Tournament and hope that they represent South Africa well,” said Nozipho Mbatha, Sasol Group Brand Marketing Manager.
Charles Saunders, Chief Executive Officer for Wheelchair Basketball South Africa, said, “It has been a great pleasure and honour for us at WBSA to be part of this journey towards taking wheelchair basketball to the next level in South Africa.”
He also wished the team well on the mission in Middle East.
