They are competing in the MTN Business Mind-2-Machine challenge whose winners will be announced at a gala awards evening scheduled to take place on November 12.
The MTN Business Mind-2-Machine challenge is said to be the first of its kind in South Africa and provides developers “ including students, graduates and small enterprises “ with an opportunity to participate in
MTN’s first Pan African Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem and developer community.
“We are excited about this initiative as it gives developers the platform to showcase their talent to corporate South Africa. Judges have had a difficult task of shortlisting the finalists, given the high quality of submissions,’said Mandisa Ntloko, Head of Marketing at MTN Business South Africa.

Being a catalyst for technological change and empowerment of developer communities by connecting them with the formal economy is one of our key strategic pillars. The MTN Business Mind-2-Machine challenge is also aligned with our strategic intent of strengthening our holistic ICT offering to our clients’, she added.
The MTN Business Mind-2-Machine challenge follows the unveiling of MTN’s IoT platform, including the introduction of a global SIM card which gives customers access to the MTN Business IoT platform with the same data rate across MTN’s footprint in Africa.
As part of the IoT platform launch, application developers from across South Africa were invited to participate in the MTN Business Mind-2-Machine challenge. The initiative aims to identify and enable talented African developers to create scalable and relevant business solutions that solve real-world problems.
