JOHANNESBURG – TOP-performing small and medium enterprises have been rewarded at the Shanduka Black Umbrellas National Development Awards in Johannesburg.
These prestigious awards showcase the excellent progress made by South African black entrepreneurs who are at the forefront of transforming the SME’s sector.
The overall award for the night, presented to a business that has shown great achievement in all aspect of incubation, went to Hula Minerals Processing and Engineering from the Lephalale Incubator.
They were also awarded the Best Shanduka Black Umbrellas Ambassador award.
Meanwhile, diversified mining services provider, Modi Mining was presented with the Best Performing Company award, and Kopedi Business Enterprises a company offering comprehensive services in construction and civil works walked away with the Most Jobs Created award.
The Incubator of the Year Award went to the Lephalale Incubator in Limpopo.
A well-deserved accolades the incubator, anchored by Exxaro, Anglo Sebenza and Hitachi Power Systems Africa, currently has 22 companies in its clientele including the top winner, Hula Mineral Processing and Engineering.
Shanduka Black Umbrellas Chief Executive Officer, Seapei Mafoyane, said as an organisation, they had been at the forefront of responding to the challenges facing small black owned companies, such as low success rate and barriers to market entry.
