True Gospel with SAVIOUS-PARKER KWINIKA

DEAR valued reader of this weekly dose of the gospel truth, this week the Lord Almighty Jehovah God has permitted me to share with you the meaning of TALENT.

He has blessed all of us with different talents.

When we know our talents, we shall surely live, not die nor remain in the same situation we have always been.

Talent or talents are given freely to each and every human being without any payment. They are priceless.

Many people do not understand what a talent is! Some believe a talent is something that could be prayed for, received from parents, churches, pastors, prophets, bishops or bought from some supermarket.

Yet the actual meaning of a talent is natural aptitude, gift or skill.

In other words, a talent is an ability, technique, flair, expertise, capacity, power, strength, knack, cleverness, virtuosity or artistry freely and naturally given to us by Jehovah God so that we may live life better.

One cannot buy a talent. Talents do not come from the above mentioned sources but the Creator.

When we pray, seek Jehovah God’s kingdom and leave our wicked ways, God will surely reveal His purpose in our lives.

According to the book of Daniel 9 : 22, God tells Prophet Daniel, “I have now come to give you insight and understanding.”

Talents are freely given to us by the ‘Author’ and ‘Finisher’ of our lives, who is Jehovah God. This is for the sole purpose of making our lives enjoyable.

Just like Jesus Christ freely died for us in order to destroy hostility between races, give marriage its deepest meaning and to absorb the wrath of God. Jesus also died so that we would escape the curse of the law, be reconciled with God, to show God’s love for sinners, to his own love for us, to take away our condemnation and to bring us to God and to give eternal life to all who believe on Him.

Now, Jehovah God created each and every one of us with unique abilities and talents to ensure we live life to the fullest and complement each other. Talents are also given to us in order to help those that do not know their purpose on earth.

Sometimes we are not even aware of the talents that Jehovah God has given to us until we run into different challenges in life.

Lurking around are people such as parents and church leaders misleading children of God into believing talents are attained for.

Examples are ample.

The ability to sing, play football, tennis, swim, run (athletics), body building, talking to make people laugh, invent things. These are all blessings from above.

Yet, despite these talents, some among us always find themselves suffering under abject poverty. This is simply because they abandon their God given talents while trying to copy or emulate other people with different talents.

Whether one is blind, deaf or dumb, if they develop or nurture the God-given talent in them, they we will definitely sustain their livelihood.

According to the book of 2 Chronicles 7:14, “Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.”

Restoring the land means blessing people.

I have often seen disabled people such as blind, deaf or dumb doing amazing things in this world for their livelihood while able-bodied persons always cry foul.

Think of such successful blind singers as South Africa’s Steve Kekana, Zimbabwe’s duo of Munyaradzi Munodawafa and the late hit maker Paul Matavire and America’s Stevie Wonder just to name a few.

With their disability, they have done extraordinary things while some able-bodied among us are crying for employment.

Think of South African sprint runner Oscar Pistorius. Controversial as he may be, Pistorius has both legs amputated below the knee when he was some months old.

Pistorius made history by running in the 2012 Olympics. Think of Natalie du Toit. She won gold for South Africa swimming at the 2004 Paralympic Games, winning the Commonwealth Games as well as clinching the accolade of 2010 Laureus World Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability.

du Toit is a clear Jehovah God’s testimony and inspiration swimmer among an elite few, who with disability can compete and win against able-bodied sportswomen. She lost a leg in an accident, but was back in the pool faster than we could say, “Champion.”

Trevor Noah, makes people laugh in order to generate millions.

When we pray to God to show us our purpose in life, Jehovah God reveals our talents so that we live life better.

Through hardships, God also teaches us to persevere, endure, remain focused as well as keep trying new ideas that would make us fully discover our purposes.

All we have to do is to be in constant touch with Jehovah God through prayer and supplication so he reveals our purposes in life.

Once we discover our talents, the next step is to develop them.

Forget what your neighbour is doing to earn a living. Concentrate on your God-given talent. I can assure you – you shall do exploits in this world.

Above all, I urge you reader to fear God in order to receive revelations from Him. The reason why we always depend on other people such as pastors, preachers, prophets and bishops to pray for us is because we have no personal relationship with Jehovah God.

Yet, once we start having personal relationships with Him, driven by fear and trust in Him, God will surely help us do amazing things.

According Proverbs 9:10, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

The same verse in the New Living Translation reads: “Fear of the LORD is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.”

The English Standard Version states: “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.”

To support my argument, note Psalm 111:10 : “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.”

The same verse in the New Living Translation states: “Fear of the LORD is the foundation of true wisdom. All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom. Praise him forever.”

The English Standard Version reads: “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!”

How does Jehovah God give wisdom? Take a closer look on the book of Proverbs 2:6, “For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.”

Our own Nkosana Makate is a perfect example of the wonders of embracing wisdom.

He invented the “Please Call Me” service, which all four mobile networks including Vodacom, MTN, Cell C and Telkom are using today. The rest of the world is now using it and has since become a mult-billionaire over a night.

In Kenya, innovator Mark Kaigwa founded Nendo, a solution that tracks how people are using digital technology in order to help brands engage with them.

Nendo is shortened from the Swahili word “mianendo”, which means “trend” or “insight.”

The Kenyan entrepreneur uses social media to pick out the “habits and quirks” of African consumers, to help businesses plan market engagement better.

Another landmark invention is the M-Pesa (M for Mobile and Pesa for Money in the local Swahili language).

M-Pesa is a mobile-phone based-service which allows users to deposit money into an account stored on their cell phones, to send balances using PIN-secured Short Message Service (SMS) text messages to other users, including sellers of goods and services and to redeem deposits for regular money.

These are talented, God fearing people.

This is not history, but reality.

Yours Truly is an exiled journalist, who started a news agency called Centre for African Journalists (CAJ) News Africa, www.cajnewsafrica.com, in a foreign land without a single cent but adversity. Years later, with the same fear of the Lord, we also own a newspaper.

God uses (read blesses) people who fear Him, but also developing personal relationship with him.

Those who believe in this True Gospel say amen!
