JOHANNESBURG- THE national senior certificate examination results resonates with the country’s improved performance in the 2016 World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Index, Brand South Africa said.
The Department of Education has announced a pass rate of 72,5 percent for 2016, a 1,8 percentage improvement from the previous year.
The agency said this reflected improvements in the pillar of education and health.
Brand South Africa Chief Executive Officer, Dr Kingsley Makhubela, says a country’s global competitiveness is determined in large part by its level of education.
“We are pleased that South Africa’s education system is enabling a steady reversal of historical trends,” says Makhubela.
“This bodes well for the sustainable progress of our Nation Brand’s competitiveness.”
Makhubela commended teachers, learners, parents and families on the improved performance of the Class of 2016 in the national senior certificate examinations.
“You collectively attest to the South African spirit of resilience and the results which can be achieved when we work together.”
