According to the team ‘s website , ” Mosimane has great depth in his side, and after the Premier Soccer League refused to postpone the fixture against Chippa to allow the African Champions to fully prepare for their CAF Super Cup against the dangerous TP Mazembe scheduled for this Saturday, Mosimane has had to play with this game in mind.”

Against all odds, the struggle continues, Mosimane has declared.

Sundowns meet Dan Malesela’s side in East London on Tuesday evening, but on Saturday, Mosimane made it clear that there would be selection changes for this game.

Mosimane fully knows how tough a side Chippa are. While they have never beaten the Tshwane Giants, they have always given them a good run for their money. Indeed any side that Mosimane fields will be competitive, and some of the players who might not have had regular run get the opportunity to put their hands up for a regular starting berth.

Chippa have only scored two goals in their nine games played, while Sundowns have scored 13 goals. The best that Chippa has achieved against Sundowns is three draws, one of which was goalless in their MTN8 clash on home soil.

But Malesela’s side must be quivering in their boots as they review how ruthless Sundowns were against Pirates at the weekend.  Only one element of the feared CBD  featured, and Mosimane may just have hit the jackpot with his current front men.

Percy Tau has been a massive revelation, and Themba Zwane has seized the opportunity by scoring two goals in two outings this year. And when Thapelo Morena moved to his regular position from the right back role Mosimane had given him, he combined brilliantly with the rest of the frontmen and scored a brace to boot.

Chippa have so far taken the scalps of Kaizer Chiefs, Baroka and Highlands Park, but victory has eluded them too often, considering their classic display of running and passing football, typical of the style Malesela’s preaches. But he is the first to bemoan the lack of goals from his strikers, and would have spent the break in January working on this.

He has also lost some influential players like Thembinkosi Lorch, but the youngsters who have gone into his side will find that the mentor is known for getting the best out of youngsters.

For Mosimane it could be an opportunity to give a run to players like Yannick Zakri, Lucky Mohomi and Fares Hachi who had a run against Bloemfontein Celtic,  Siyanda Zwane and some of the youngsters who have been given professional contracts.

Sundowns  cannot afford injury to their high level players. Leonardo Castro has been used sparingly, not featuring in the weekend game and only coming in as a late substitute against Celtic.
