LAGOS – SOUTH African businesspeople who participated in a week-long trade and investment mission to Ghana and Nigeria are optimistic of tangible results in the near future.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) led the mission which took place from last Monday to the Saturday.
Olivia Fuka of GET Mining Services, expressed satisfaction of both legs of the mission.
She said she had successful meetings with reputable companies from Ghana and Nigeria.
“There is a market for her products in both countries and setting up a plant is in our future plans,” she said.
Fuka described the Nigerian market as massive, and was thus hopeful the meetings she had through her participation in the mission would yield positive results when the company sealed the leads that emanated from the mission.
“We are determined to take full advantage of opportunities identified in the huge Nigerian market,” said Fuka.
Marketing Manager of Tarch Chemical, the distributors of cosmetics, food and pharmaceutical ingredients, Getrude Makamure, said Ghana was the highlight of the mission.
“We have been trying to enter the West African market with no success,” Makamure recalled.
Thanks to the West Africa mission, she met a potential client her company had been trying to contact on their own with no success.
“The client is a big player in the market in Ghana and have showed huge interest in working with us. We will be making follow-ups in making sure that the deal is signed and sealed,’ said Makamure.
DTI Director of Export Promotions, Seema Sardha, hailed the mission to West Africa as a success.
