Technology platform promotes Diaspora remittances

LAGOS – A PLATFORM enabling millions of Zimbabweans in the Diaspora to remit money has been recognised at the Cashless Africa Awards 2017 in Nigeria.
Mahindra Comviva, the global leader in mobility solution and Econet Wireless, the largest mobile operator in Zimbabwe, have jointly won the “Best Low Remittance Provider” at the ceremony held in Lagos.
The award is for the EcoCash Diaspora, an Econet Wireless product powered by Mahindra Comviva’s mobiquity money platform.
The money received in EcoCash wallet can be used for digital payments or cashing-out at any of the EcoCash agents in Zimbabwe. Econet Wireless has also partnered with MTN Zambia to provide direct mobile wallet to mobile wallet money transfer between MTN Mobile Money wallet and EcoCash wallet.
Anil Krishnan, Mahindra Vice President and Head of Africa Region, said, “We are honored to win this award.”
“This recognition confirms Mahindra Comviva’s position as the leading innovators in the mobile money space and Econet Wireless as the right partner for our continued growth in Africa.”
The Cashless Africa awards honor organizations that have made significant contributions to the digital financial services sector and are poised to make considerable market impact in the future.
The awards are dedicated to acknowledging creativity, commitment and excellence in the digital financial services across Africa.
