HARARE – THE continent’s premier news agency, Centre for African Journalists (CAJ) News Africa, has launched a Zimbabwe news portal aimed at servicing the country’s media industry.
CAJ News Zimbabwe, the privately owned Pan African news agency, seeks to service all Zimbabwe’s newspapers, radio stations and television with credible news.
Announcing the historic launch on Monday, CAJ News Africa Chief Executive Officer, Savious-Parker Kwinika, said CAJ News Zimbabwe was driven by the desire to disseminate accurate news information about the southern African country.
CAJ News Zimbabwe is accessible via web: www.cajnews.co.zw, but only through syndication of such quality news articles.
Updated round the clock, CAJ News Zimbabwe features the latest multimedia technologies, from live video streaming to audio packages and archives.
“I have been in and out of the country to establish a vibrant team of journalists to work for this multiple award winning news agency,” said Kwinika.
He said CAJ News Zimbabwe boasted big names in the industry, drawn from all the country’s ten provinces including the major cities of Harare and Bulawayo.
“I’m proud to announce a diversified CAJ News Zimbabwe blending experienced and upcoming journalists. Most interestingly, we are assisting the government in creating employment to the country estimated to have 85 per cent of unemployed people, mainly youths,” said Kwinika.
“We shall continue making our presence felt throughout Zimbabwe as we have done in South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya. We have set up editorial structures headed by former editors of both privately owned media and state journalists to ensure our quality is not compromised.”
Kwinika said the agency was plugging the gap emanating from an absence of a Pan-African news agency.
Foreign-owned news agencies largely liable for distorting the Zimbabwean and African story are the major providers of news to media.
The launch for CAJ News Zimbabwe came at a time the flagship CAJ News Africa has clinched news deals with the country’s leading media groups such as Zimpapers, Alpha Media Holdings (AMH) and the privately owned ZiFM.
Kwinika urged government, private sector, NGOs, entrepreneurs and diplomatic missions to sign up for CAJ News Zimbabwe for credible,
accurate and developmental news information.
Apart from CAJ News Zimbabwe, the award winning Pan African operates CAJ News Nigeria & West Africa: www.cajnews.com.ng, and CAJ News Kenya: www.cajnews.co.ke to service West and East African regions.
The flagship CAJ News Africa, www.cajnewsafrica.com, headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa boasts a presence in 44 African countries with a complimentary team of 1 500 correspondents and freelancers in Africa.
“We also seek to be Zimbabwe’s most reliable news source of information and news for the government, private sector, including diplomatic missions in the country. Therefore CAJ News Zimbabwe is an ideal news source for marketing, advertising, public relations as well as market leader in news technology nationwide,” said Kwinika.
