JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – THE possibility of load shedding remains low as the power system continues stabilising.
Eskom, the power utility has not implemented power cuts in recent weeks coinciding with reduced demand for electricity in the wake of rising temperatures and maintenance on the Cahora Bassa Dam.
Eskom receives 1 500 megawatts from the dam in neighbouring country.
“The system is currently stable with a low risk of load shedding,” Eskom stated on Tuesday.
“Eskom continues to make progress with its programme of planned maintenance but the system remains tight.”
The company urged all South Africans to partner with it to save 10 percent of their electricity usage throughout the day.
The firm said it would continue to provide regular updates on the state of the power system through various media platforms.
