Suspect hospitalised after shootout with cops

Suspect hospitalisedDURBAN, (CAJ News) – A 21-YEAR-OLD KwaZulu-Natal man is recovering under  police guard following a robbery attempt that prompted officers to open fire.

The suspect (name supplied) is expected to appear at a Durban court soon after recovery.

EThekwini Cluster Trio crime, Metro Police K9 Unit and Durban Flying Squad arrested the suspect for house robbery at Reservoir Hills in Durban.

The KZN police officer embarked on an operation searching for house robbery and attempted murder suspects.

During the operation, police noticed a suspect matching the description provided to them through intelligence, exiting near the shack and he was in possession of a handgun.

He allegedly he fired a shot towards the police before fleeing on foot.

Police retaliated and the suspect sustained a gunshot wound on his stomach.

He will be charged and appear in Durban Magistrates’ Court.

The Police Commissioner in KwaZulu-Natal, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye
Ngobeni, highly praised police on the arrests.

“We will continue with our operations and make sure that we put criminals behind bars so that they can face the consequences for their actions,” she said.
