“Since Globacom took over the sponsorship of the CAF Awards in 2005, football has always been married with music to blend the celebration of football excellence amidst high class entertainment,” CAF stated ahead of the gala dinner the mobile network operator sponsors.

On Thursday, Ivory Coast midfielder, Yaya Toure, is set to make history with a fifth successive African Player of the Year accolade.

He is competing for the prime accolade with Andre Ayew (Ghana/ Swansea City), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Gabon/ Borussia Dortmund).
