MTN meets unions over call centre grievance

JOHANNESBURG – MTN South Africa management will next week meet leaders of the Communications Workers Union (CWU) to address concerns emanating from the outsourcing of its call centre facilities.

The mobile operator confirmed receiving a memorandum of demands from the union.

The scheduled meeting follows MTN SA’s announcement follows the subsequent engagements that MTN SA leadership had with employees on the outsourcing matter across the country.

Nhlanhla Qwabe, Chief Human Resources Officer: MTN SA, says the company will continue to use a number of internal platforms to constructively engage its employees on the planned adoption of the hybrid call centre model, including a meeting scheduled for Wednesday (17 August) between employees and MTN SA leadership.

This is to further engage and address some of the concerns the employees wew raising regarding the planned hybrid call centre model.

“We will continue to have discussions in good faith with integrity and transparency with the CWU in a bid to reach an amicable resolution to the issues raised,” says Qwabe.
