JOHANNESBURG – THE trigger-happiness culture in the South African Premiership has claimed the second casualty in Highlands Park coach, Allan Freese.
Two months into the campaign, he becomes the second coach after Free State Stars showed Denis Lavagne the door.
On Tuesday, newcomers Highlands announced former Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund, has been brought in to replace Freese.
Club Director, Sinky Mnisi, could not divulge reasons for Freese‘s departure but the decision to wield the axe could be Highlands’ indifferent start to the season, which culminated in a 4-1 defeat to Supersport United last weekend.
The team lies 13th on the log with a single win and a draw the only positive results. They lie third from bottom.
“Reasons and all other related issues will be released later,” said Mnisi in a statement.
Freese guided Highlands Park to the Premiership after winning the playoffs.
