JOHANNESBURG – AFRICAN champions Mamelodi Sundowns will not stand in the way of its players and coaches amid interest from other teams.
There have been reports the South African league winners’ star players, including Keagan Dolly and Khama Billiat, have attracted interest from overseas clubs.
Pitso Mosimane, recently named the African Coach of the Year, is rumoured to be among trainers the local South African Football Association is targeting for the national team job.
“I would love to see Pitso coaching one of the top European clubs,” said Sundowns President, Patrice Motsepe, at a media conference in Chloorkop.
“I would also do my patriotic duty and release him if requested by Bafana Bafana to do so and with Pitso’s consent.”
He added if any player had opportunities to leave, progress and earn more money, they would be allowed to leave.
This includes Dolly who has been in dispute with the club after it resisted offers from overseas teams.
A controversial buyout clause is at the centre of the deadlock.
“Mamelodi Sundowns will immediately release Keagan Dolly if it receives an offer in terms of the buyout clause that was agreed between Keagan Dolly and Mamelodi Sundowns,” said Motsepe.
