Accenture forecasts tech for people by people

JOHANNESBURG – THE year 2017 will foster in rapid acceleration of human-centric technology in artificial independence (AI) and culminate in digital ecosystems and marketplaces empowering people as well as driving transformation of business and society.
This is according to Accenture, a leading global professional services company which has forecast a “Future of Technology for People, by People.”
Through its Accenture Technology Vision 2017 report, the company says people hold the power to shape and apply technology to create positive change, improve lives and transform business and society.
“Technology for People,” the theme of this year’s report, launched in Johannesburg, is a call to action for business and technology leaders to actively design and direct technology to augment and amplify human capabilities.
Dr Roze Phillips, Managing Director for Accenture Consulting, says the pace of technology change is “breathtaking: and is bringing about the biggest advancements since the dawn of the Information Age.
Also known as the Computer Age, Digital Age or New Media Age, it is a characterized by the shift from traditional industry to an economy based on information computerisation.
“As technology transforms the way we work and live, it raises important societal challenges and creates new opportunities,” says Philips.
“Ultimately, people are in control of creating the changes that will affect our lives, and we’re optimistic that responsive and responsible leaders will ensure the positive impact of new technologies.”
The annual technology report from Accenture predicts the most significant technology trends people will apply to disrupt business over the next three years.
Accenture surveyed more than 5 400 business and IT executives worldwide. Some 86 percent of respondents said while individual technologies were rapidly advancing, the multiplier effect of these technologies that is creating innovation breakthroughs.
For nearly 17 years, Accenture has taken a systematic look across the enterprise landscape to identify emerging technology trends that hold the greatest potential to disrupt businesses and industries .
