HANDS up those that partook in competitive sporting activities at high school, particularly athletics!

Reader, you might have competed in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m or 1 500m races. That is theme of the True Gospel this week

Before becoming a professional journalist, I used to participate in long distance athletics while also playing football as prolific central striker.

The highest level of my football career was in the Division One league, the second tier of the sport. I assisted my club gain premiership promotion. That particular year, I emerged top goalscorer of the season.

I managed the same feat the previous year in the second division when we gained promotion to Division One.

I hereby bring my athletics and football experiences so that dear reader, I bring you closer to our Creator Jehovah God.

I’m reiterating the personal salvation regardless of one’s doctrine, background, colour, tribe, nationality or creed. This is purely on salvation.

When we have salvation, we are automatically delivered from harm, ruin, and loss. In other words, Jehovah God would have favoured us with eternal lifeline, which is preservation, redemption, deliverance, or reclamation.

Salvation does not come from human beings but from Jehovah God the Creator.

This is confirmed in the book of Isaiah 43:25. It reads, “I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.”

My message does not target believers in my church only. Wherever I travel across Africa, once I get slightest opportunity, I always proclaim the Kingdom of Jehovah God.

I do so without fear or favour and I don’t wish to get anybody’s clearance or endorsement because on that day death comes calling, I will die alone. So, brothers and sisters, leave me to preach when I still have the time to proclaim Jehovah God’s Kingdom.

Back to the sporting topic!

When in a race, one is required to wear attire suitable for running lest one loses the contest. Similarly when playing football, one must have the relevant gear or else one will chase shadows in the field of play.

Honestly, you cannot enter the race or football field with gumboots, coat or helmet.

The moment you enter any race with such attire, you risk losing.

Similarly, when we want to be in sound relationship with Jehovah God, we have to worship Him in spirit and in truth in order to overcome sin.

Sin always thwarts us from winning the spiritual race, which is hearing directly from Jehovah God.

Sin regularly obstructs and cripples our chances of entering heaven.

Sin is like an athlete entering the race wearing gumboots, coat or helmet yet expecting to become number one or winner.

That’s very impossible!

Personally, I ran the physical race and played football with the right attire hence I excelled. That also applies to my worshipping.

According to James 5:16: “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

Further in the book of 1 John 1:9: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

Now when we are purified, we can easily talk to Jehovah God, His angels and Holy Spirit. We do not uphold the fake tongues that we hear spoken, rehearsed, chanted or recited by witches and wizards masquerading as the Holy Spirit.

When we worship Jehovah God, we have to do so in spirit and in truth.

John 4:24 confirms this True Gospel: “God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

Jehovah God always wants each one of us to maintain a spirit-filled life and be fervent in spirit.

For instance, Jehovah God says believers should always walk in love toward one another. That means to walk in love is God’s will for our lives, but the moment we don’t have that true love, we are not walking in the light.

According to 1 John 2:11, “But anyone who hates a brother or sister is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness. They do not know where they are going, because the darkness has blinded them.”

There are little things we do every day that always prevent us from hearing Jehovah, which is withholding forgiveness.

These include pride, distractions, lack of trust and misunderstanding how Jehovah God speaks.

Now when we want to win in this spiritual race, we should know that there are departed heroes and heroines of gospel such as Moses, Joshua, Elijah, Elisha, David, Jeremiah, Daniel, Ezekiel, Paul, Peter, John, Esther, Mary, Elizabeth, Ruth, Matthew, Luke, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego are watching in the terraces or grandstand clapping hands for us as we run to win.

Similarly, if we go into the race with gumboots, coat or helmet (sin), these departed heroes clapping their hands for us to win the race always feel let down because we are ill prepared.

This is why today in many assemblies or churches where we worship, believers always think only one person hears from Jehovah God because sin is blocking their access to the Creator.

Hence, if we continue running this race with gumboots, coat or helmet, which is sin, we will always assume God is far from us yet in reality He is near.

According to 2 Chronicles 7:14 says: “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

This means that Jehovah God can always hear His people who are called by His name…….not one, or two, or three but people.

But what stops us from hearing God is racing with gumboots, coat or helmet (sin).

Let us all enter this track with sole intention of winning not losing.

According to Matthew 6:33, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

This means if we abandon our sinful ways, Jehovah God shall always hear us. If we seek righteousness, everything that we need in life shall be given to us by Jehovah God.

Brothers and sisters, always know this: Jehovah God is not a human being. What he promises in the bible shall always be fulfilled to those that who seek righteousness.

According to Numbers 23:19, “God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?”

Further in the book of Hebrews 13:8 confirms this: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

This is further supported in the Old Testament in the book of Malachi 3:6: “I the LORD do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.”
