JOHANNESBURG – A ZIMBABWEAN journalist working in South Africa has survived death by a whisker after a vehicle fell off a towing truck that allegedly jumped a red robot and crashed into his car in Germiston, east of Johannesburg.

Ntandoyenkosi Ncube (34) was traveling in his Nissan Qashqai and his wife Rebecca Ncube when the accident happened at the intersection of South Rand Road and R59 streets.

The pair has been treated at the Germiston Hospital after sustaining injuries.

“The towing truck broke the chain releasing the car behind, which came to me like a bullet. The car being pulled is the one which hit the right side of my car’s passenger side pushing my vehicle to the outer-line,” said Ncube in an interview with CAJ News Africa.

He said his car was damaged badly on both sides.

“We escaped from the passenger door since I could not open the extensively damaged driver’s door.”

Onlookers and members of his church rescued Ncube prior to his admission to hospital.

He is now at home.

The matter was reported at Mofatview Police Station.

Police said the matter was under investigation.
