CAPE TOWN – The Democratic Alliance (DA) will on Tuesday present its position on Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s candidacy as the next public protector – a day ahead of it being debated in the National Assembly.
She got the nod from all political parties except DA that reserved its comment as it had not been satisfied with the way in which she had responded to questions about why she had left the Department of Home Affairs to join State Security.
The ad hoc committee for the appointment of the public protector will submit its report on the selected candidate Parliament today .
Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane was endorsed last month as the likely choice to replace Thuli Madonsela whose term expires in October.
She needs at least 60% of the vote in Parliament to be appointed as the next Public Protector
