metro busesJOHANNESBURG -The City of Johannesburg has added 70 new Diesel Dual Fuel (DDF) buses to  its fleet to improve its transport system.

“These new buses will be scheduled to improve services along main service routes operated by the Metrobus,” the city said in a statement.

The buses are expected to start operating on 1 July.

“….The new Metrobuses are using the Rea Vaya colours and branding. The move to market Rea Vaya and Metrobus together is another step in building a common brand and committing to a single quality standard,” MMC for Transport, councillor Christine Walters said.

She said the city wants to build the Rea Vaya brand as a single public transport and brand reflecting quality, safety and reliability.

In addition, the city has an App which provides information on routes and fares of Rea Vaya BRT and Metrobus services.
The city will continue to develop the App so that by the end of 2016 it should also be able to provide “track my bus” functionality.
